My paintings are inspired by nature and the landscapes of both Virginia and from my travels. The Impressionists, my love of gardening and the joy of experimenting with various color palettes influence my style. I try to reflect a bold contrast between light and shadow in my paintings translating my subjects into a blend of shapes and color.

I am a painter and graphic designer. After 30 years in the corporate world as an actuary and researcher, I left in 2009 to pursue my art full time. Originally from western New York, I have lived in Lynchburg, Virginia for 30 years. I began painting twenty years ago as a hobby and it quickly became one of my passions. I studied oil at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg with Rosalie Day White, the Lynchburg Art Club and attended the Summer Artists Program at Nimrod Hall, Bath County, Virginia. I have also taken art courses at Sweet Briar College and Lynchburg College.
My preferred media is oil but I also experiment with soft pastels and colored pencils. My work has received awards in Lynchburg at the Main Street Art Show, the Academy Bateau Art Festival and Campbell County’s Art in the Courthouse Square. I have also been selected for the 2011 National Juried Art Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia.
